  • Absentee Present

    Absentee Present

    You--
    Burning, wanting, yielding, haunting
    Unyielding, unfeeling, uncaring and daunting
    Caustic, un-rustically beautiful and luscious
With wet flesh so soft and voluptuous

    Sleeping, teasing, eying, prying
Docile, voracious, never have I seen crying
Hard and cool like metallic sheen
Both fully open and ruefully keen...mean

Moving like air and solid like me
Always circling, living to experience unseen
As it pulls and as it calls
    And others of our kind

    Alluringly nameless and faceless
Timeless and kind--in the corner perhaps Pride--
    Appealing and physically erotic
    Both known and unknowingly exotic

Thank you for being one of the few
Who understand I stay when I stay--
    And I leave, yes always--
    When I leave,
    I must, I will, I want--to be free.

  • Words to My Friend (Vivien Renee 1934b:54-55)

See: I am at the age when a maiden gives her hand
To the Man whom her weakness seeks and dreads,
And I have not chosen my travelling companion,
Because you appeared at the turn of the road.

The hyacinth bleeds on the red hills,
You dreamt and Eros walked by your side...
I am a woman, I have no right to beauty,
The have condemned me to the ugliness of men.

And I had the inexcusable audacity to want
The sisterly love made up of light purities,
The furtive step that does no bruise the ferns
And the soft voice which blends with the evening.

They had forbidden me your hair, your eyes
Because your hair is long and fragrant
And because your eyes hold strange ardors
And become muddy like rebellious waves.

They pointed their fingers at me in an angry gesture,
Because my eyes were seeking your tender glance...
On seeing us pass by, no one has wished to understand
hat I have chosen you with simplicity.

Consider the vile law that I transgress
And judge my love, which knows nothing of evil,
As candid, as necessary, and fatal
As the desire which joins the lover to his mistress.

  • With Nothing Much to Say...

    Connie is a sweet thing,
    With nothing much to say.
    Connie patiently ponders,
At least while Val is away.

    Connie is a good friend,
    Since mom said goodnight.
Yes, Connie is a love thing,
    My own solitary plight.

    Connie Oh Connie,
    You look divinely sweet.
Careful, Connie's to be won, dear:
And that is no small feat

Yes, Connie's still a love thing
    With nothing much to say.
    But when Connie opens up,
You'll find it hard to disagree.

    Yes, when Connie opens up
It's a beautiful thing to see.

And yes I want her for my own...
In five years I hope we shall agree...
